Borgward BX5: Premiere at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 18

5 after 7 — Borgward’s new way to tell time

Borgward celebrated its brand and product premiere on the Chinese market in mid-2016 with the introduction of the BX7 series. The automotive startup company with a remarkable history then went on to enjoy a brilliant market launch by selling more than 20,000 units in the months that followed. Now the stage is set for the next phase, as Borgward will present its new BORGWARD BX5 production model for the Asian market at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition on November 18. The BX5 concept car (near-series prototype) had previously celebrated its world premiere in Geneva in the spring of this year.

Emotional design, spacious interior

With a length of 4,490 mm, a width of 1,877 mm, and a height of 1,675 mm, the BX5 belongs to the more compact SUV segment, which is steadily expanding and developing into one of the most popular and successful segments in the global automotive market. The BX5 is an extremely pragmatic vehicle that nevertheless incorporates Borgward’s typical emotional design with its distinctive wing lines and OCTAGON radiator grille. The SUV in the dimensions described above, and with a wheelbase of 2,685 mm, offers a spacious interior and boasts the typical virtues of a classic SUV — for example, versatility and superior comfort.

Customized drive systems for different markets worldwide

The Borgward BX5 also makes a big impression with its dynamic off-road capability and sporty driving performance. This combination is made possible by a direct-injection four-cylinder turbocharged engine coupled with the intelligent and fully variable iAWD all-wheel drive system . In line with Borgward’s philosophy that customized drive system concepts should be offered in each

market worldwide, the BX5 1.8T iAWD was designed especially for Asian countries and emerging markets in the region. As has already been announced, the BX5 series will be offered in Europe in plug-in hybrid and all-electric drive versions.

Fully networked, thanks to “Multiple Interaction”

Intuitive operability, the very latest in infotainment, full network connectivity with Internet access, and an extensive range of online services — all these are integral elements of every BORGWARD model. BORGWARD’s Multiple Interaction B-link system, which is being offered with the BORGWARD BX5, is highly versatile. Both Android and Apple smartphones can be fully connected to the vehicle via this intuitive system. This gives drivers full access to all smartphone functions — e.g., to access contact lists, play music, have text messages read aloud, use various apps, or employ the large central touchscreen to view images and videos stored on a cell phone. Using the on-board WiFi hotspot, vehicle occupants can also access the Internet via devices such as smartphones, tablets or netbooks, and enjoy rapid and stable data transfer.
